How the Company BEZALEL Got Its Name

At first sound of the company's name, BEZALEL, many people ask the question, "How did they get their name? Where did it come from and what does it mean?"

These are great questions because the name has direct connection with the company and the products it makes.

BEZALEL's CEO Frank Wu was inspired by the Bible. In the Old Testament, there is the name "Bezalel". And Frank's inspiration came from his personal interest in the Scriptures and the God who blessed a man.

This man was blessed not just with the Spirit of God but talent, wisdom, and creativity.

Frank may have noticed that this person's ability was the kind only God could give and Frank knew immediately this would be the name of his company.

Inspired by the narrative of the dwelling place of God and the special skills given to Bezalel to build the tabernacle, we, as modern day consumers got a wireless charging tech company with such a name.

So what does wireless charging or wireless charging tech have anything to do with the meanings associated with "Bezalel"? We can know more by first delving a little deeper into the name and person.

Who Bezalel Was

Bezalel is a name that first comes out in the book of Exodus in the Old Testament or Hebrew Scriptures of the Bible.

His role was to help build the tabernacle during the Israelites' sojourn in the wilderness with Moses. "The tabernacle (mishkan), first mentioned in the Torah in Exodus 25, was the portable sanctuary that the Israelites carried with them in the wilderness" (MJL).

The Lord tells Moses that God "filled" Bezalel with the Spirit of God.

He was filled with the Spirit of God and given the ability, intelligence, knowledge and all craftsmanship to devise artistic designs (Exodus 31:1-4).

All craftsmanship. Wow. Bezalel was "a master of design in gold, silver, bronze, cutting precious stones to be set, woodcarving and every other craft" (Complete Jewish Bible).

We can also see from the word dissection above that the name could literally mean "in the shadow of God".

If one is in the shadow of God, that means God must not be too far.

Most extraordinary is that the only other time the Bible mentions "Spirit of God" inside or upon a person is when Pharaoh spoke of Joseph in Genesis 41:38. (The mentioning of the Spirit of God towards not a specific person, is there before creation, when 'the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters' in Genesis 1:2.)

Of Joseph "'Pharaoh said to his officials, “Can we find anyone else like him? The Spirit of God lives in him!'" (CJB)

BEZALEL, the Wireless Charging Tech Company

So what does a wireless charging company have to do with all this?

First, we can see the company is unique from its name and the way it was ascertained by the CEO. Are there many technology companies after a character in the Hebrew Scriptures of the Bible? Especially one with such a singled out functioning?

Second, wireless charging is simply a means to provide power to our everyday, handheld devices, which are absolutely essential for the operations of our lives. Inside our devices is our families, our work, our connection to one another. Inside our devices is the world.

This is not that different from the way God wanted to be with the Israelites wherever they went. The tabernacle would be concrete and portable platform upon which the Israelites could meet their God.

Third, Bezalel the person, was gifted with workmanship for design. A product from BEZALEL the company (yes it's all caps) was just awarded the RedDot Award for Product Design. Coincidence? Perhaps.

But it's not a coincidence that BEZALEL's brand is unique for its exquisite design and almost everyone who holds a product in his/her hand mentions first the beauty of its design.
