Rising Interest for More Venues to Have Wireless Charging Accessibility

One of the best ways to gain insight to consumer demand is to discover their attitude and perception towards the given service or product.

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) conducted a survey to ascertain just that: attitude and perception of consumers with regards to wireless charging. With more than 3,500 folks who answered the survey from seven different countries, WPC reported on October 2019 the latest on what people want when it comes to wireless charging.

More Access to Wireless Charging in Public Places

Consumers want more access to wireless charging opportunities than just inside their homes.

WPC found that compared to last year, there was an increase of desire for venues—beyond office and home—to have wireless charging availability. This rise in interest reflects the prevalence of smartphone use and demand for convenient and accessible battery charging, where people don’t have to take their power cords everywhere.

And now that more handheld devices and electronic wearables are built with wireless charging capability, it makes sense to have more wireless chargers.

People are also seeing the convenience of being able to set your phone on a desk, table, or bar and go about life without hunting for electrical sockets, and with a ball of cords in hand.

The above graph produced by WPC shows that nearly 55% of the people want wireless charging in a lodging other than their home. That means hotels, motels, AirBnB, and etc.

Other venues that people show interest for wireless charging accessibility include:

  • Bars
  • Movie theater and other public entertainment venues
  • Waiting rooms of medical/dental offices
  • Beauty/hair salon
  • Airplanes, trains, buses, taxis
  • Airports, train station, subway, and local transportation stations
  • Coffee Shops
  • Restaurants
  • At the office/work venue

Should a simple installment of wireless charging devices for smartphones be implemented in public and private venues outside the home, people could keep their phones on longer and stay connected, especially during travel.

This is significant not only because it reduces low battery anxiety, but keeping battery levels high are essential for safety and efficiency.

The average smartphone user will appreciate easy access to designated charging stations in these frequently visited places.

Economically, this slight infrastructure (or interior) transformation can give businesses a high-tech face lift and bring in more customers; and more satisfied customers.
